What A Feeling!

I realize it’s just the first step in editing, but I felt amazing earlier this week when I completed the markups my editor made to my draft as she did a structural review.  She came back with a great letter with all her comments and suggestions.  I also sat down with her and received wonderful feedback.

She mentioned my material was all there, but I needed to basically move things around.  I was touched by some of the messages she received from reading the manuscript… messages I hadn’t even realized were there or brought attention to and those I never thought others would see.  She convinced me that some material I had put in is not relevant to the subject of cancer, so I took her advice.

Though the next step sounds quite simple, there are many things to look at while moving paragraphs and pages around in a manuscript.  You also have to check your flow of events, keep the reader interested, and repetition or missing chronological information may confuse readers.  Sounds like a large task for my blurred mind…

So wish me luck on the structural edit, as I will need to take the proper time to get it ready for her second review.  I’m anxious to get to it, but with my daugther’s Sweet 16 coming up and holidays around the corner, I hope to steal some time most days each week so I can advance.

Thanks for continuing to read…

Patricia
